Job Title: Child & Youth Worker
Month part- time contract: effective August 7, 2023 – September 15, 2023
Location: Windsor, Ontario (office)
DYLOTT is a leadership incubator that delivers a variety of youth programs intentionally designed to ensure young Black leaders have the tools to excel in the current and emerging Canadian and International job market. Our programs are designed to address barriers to social inclusion in employment, education and the broader social context. Our culturally responsive supports and services provide: Mentoring and mentorship opportunities, Intensive training and skill development, and Innovative Sector-specific knowledge.
DYLOTT is seeking a Child & Youth Worker to help serve the Black young professionals’ community that we have a presence in. The CYW will assist in the planning and facilitation of the Co-op to Careers in Cybersecurity (C 3) summer Tech camp program.
Job Duties
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of in-person program planning and activities delivery for Black children in the summer Tech camp in Windsor.
- Plan and deliver the daily recreational component of camp.
- Provide behaviour management leadership to enable inclusive learning environments for all campers.
- Support campers to develop positive perceptions of themselves using growth mindset skills and techniques, and assist them in setting and achieving goals while at camp.
- Work with large and small groups of campers to help the children master key learning during camp.
- Bring a child-positive, anti-oppression practice to this work.
- Implement outreach strategies to identify and address accessibility barriers, changing trends and emerging and continuing needs within the communities.
- Act as a resource for children, youth and allies and respond to their needs by providing information and referrals.
Requirements
- Recognized diploma or degree in Child and Family work, Community Development, Social Services from an accredited institution
- Minimum of two years experience engaging children and youth from Black and diverse racialized and under-served communities
- Preference for summer camp experience in a more relaxed environment
- Demonstrated ability to be innovative and strategic in creating and executing programs
- Understanding of and commitment to strength-based community development
- Demonstrated experience working with partners in the youth service sector (Schools, other organizations etc.)
- Excellent group facilitation and training skills
- Experienced self-starter and independent worker able to 'hit the ground running’
- Excellent organizational, planning and program implementation skills
- Strong command of the English language, verbal and written
- Proficiency with Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Verbal and written fluency in a second language is an asset
- Must be available for duration of camp hours and before and after care
Standard First Aid & Vulnerable Sector Check Certificates are required
