Postdoctoral researcher
You will be joining the group of Stefan Bauersachs, which is part of the Institute of Veterinary Anatomy (https://www.vetanat.uzh.ch/de/Forschung/Bauersachs.html) and located at the AgroVet-Strickhof research station, a cooperation in education and research between the cantonal agricultural school Strickhof, ETH Zurich Animal Sciences, and the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Zurich.
We are a small interdisciplinary team of veterinarians and molecular biologists working in the field of large animal reproduction. Our main goal is to advance the understanding of reproductive biology in order to provide a basis for improved diagnosis and treatment of fertility problems as well as the improvement of assisted reproduction techniques.
Your responsibilities
You will contribute to the SNSF-funded projects “The uterine MICRObiota and FERTility in the mare: Why the bacterial composition matters? MICROFERT” (https://data.snf.ch/grants/grant/200534) and “Oviductal organoids to study the embryo-maternal dialog and develop strategies to alleviate climate change impact on cattle breeding ORGALOG” (https://data.snf.ch/grants/grant/205507).
Your contributions to these projects will be related to (examples):
· Spatial and single-cell transcriptomics
· Molecular analysis of extracellular vesicles (mRNA, miRNA, proteins)
· Cell culture and other studies for functional validation
· Scientific publications and contributions to international scientific conferences
Your position involves collaboration with international project partners.
Your profile
· Holding a doctoral degree (PhD)
· Strong publication track record
· Background in molecular biology, functional genomics, cell biology, applied bioinformatics, biology of reproduction
· Experience in cell culture techniques
· Strong communication (English: essential; German: desirable) and writing skills
· Ability to work in a team
· Willingness to learn new things
